We’re excited to announce the latest update to RecapIQ, featuring version 01.08.00, packed with major improvements that will elevate your experience!

  1.  Reworked Filter Menu for Upgraded UX
We’ve completely redesigned the filter menu to make it more user-friendly and efficient. This upgrade not only speeds up the filter menu but also creates a more dynamic environment.

Why it Matters: This upgrade simplifies the filtering process, saving you time and enhancing your workflow by making filter selection more intuitive and seamless.
  2. Switched Calculations from Mean to Median
In our continuous effort to provide more accurate data analysis, we’ve changed our calculation method from mean to median, removed the 1.5 IQR method, and updated all relevant functions to use the median instead of the mean.

Why it Matters: Switching to median calculations offers a more accurate representation of your data by minimizing the impact of outliers. This change ensures you get clearer, more reliable insights into your data trends.
  3. Adjusted Value Parameters for Comprehensive ROI Calculation
We’ve enhanced our ROI calculations to encompass entire events, not just individual event days. We’ve adjusted the value parameters for Interactions per Event Day, ACV (Average Customer Value), and Cost per Event Day to allow for more comprehensive event metrics.

Why it Matters: This adjustment provides a complete view of event performance, helping you make better strategic decisions and optimize your resources effectively. By considering the entire event, you gain a more holistic understanding of your ROI, leading to more accurate and actionable insights.

These enhancements are designed to improve your user experience, deliver more precise data, and provide deeper insights for event performance analysis. We’re confident that RecapIQ v01.08.00 will significantly enhance your data analysis and reporting capabilities.

One of the most significant enhancements in this release is the refinement of our Reach Efficiency Dashboard. We’ve listened to your feedback and made strategic adjustments to ensure accuracy and reliability in your data analysis.

Here’s what we’ve done:

  1. Improved Outlier Removal: We’ve completely revamped the filters for Interactions per Event Day and Budget Metrics to effectively eliminate outliers and exclude irrelevant event types. Doing this ensures that your metrics accurately reflect the true performance of your campaigns.
  2. Streamlined Total Events Calculation: Say goodbye to unnecessary calculations! We’ve aligned all three cards on the Reach Efficiency Dashboard that calculate “total events” to reference the same variable. This enhances efficiency and eliminates any discrepancies in your data interpretation.
  3. Enhanced Formatting: Attention to detail matters, which is why we’ve meticulously formatted the Engagement Type card. We’ve fixed any pesky typos and added commas to total samples, ensuring clarity in your reporting.

But why is removing outliers so crucial when determining averages for Interactions per Hour, Interactions per Event, and Cost per Interaction?

Removing outliers ensures that your data accurately represents the typical behavior of your target audience. By filtering out extreme values, like unusually high or low interactions, you can achieve a more reliable average. This, in turn, enables you to make informed decisions about resource allocation, campaign optimization, and budget management.

This feature-centric update added some enhanced security measures and improved a graphic display issue experienced by some users.

  • Security features were added to the filter displays to improve the user experience.
  • We addressed a navigation graphic overlay issue in which one part of the display would not render correctly under certain filtering options.

This update addressed a map display issue resulting in an incompatibility between our system and a Microsoft update and improved the ROI modeling options for those working with the Bottled
Wine industry data directly.

  • Addressed a display issue on the Reach Efficiency dashboard, which resulted in a PowerBI update that prevented the Regional Map from displaying.
  • Increased the functionality of the custom Return-on-Investment inputs to allow for a wider variety of manual inputs, resulting in accurate results.
  • Improved the versatility of the Bottle Wine industry data to allow for a greater variety of Reach Efficiency filtering and more accurate derived return-on-investment modeling under user-generated scenarios.

This update focused on improving the overall display and user experience when customizing the Return-on-Invetment dashboard for their campaign.

  • Addressed a display issue with the Reach Quality dashboard that was causing the top-line metrics to overlap with other display elements when the Age filter was used.
  • Improved the responsiveness of the user experience when customizing the variables for individual campaigns in the Return-on-Investment dashboard.

In this update, we addressed some bugs related to how meta metrics are being displayed and improved the accuracy of Total Event Day counts under different filter options.

  • Improved the display of meta metrics on the Reach Quality dashboard among a more comprehensive array of filtering options.
  • Adjusted top-line metric displays under different regional selections.
  • Addressed bugs related to the Total Event Day metrics and how commas are received in the user-specified filters on the Return-on-Investment dashboard.

In this update, we made several adjustments to the filtering options for the benchmarking database and addressed a bug.

  • Updated the filter options on the Return-on-Investment Dashboard to more accurately reflect the current selection and display the full range of “Direct ROI Benchmarks” at the bottom of the dashboard.
  • Adjusted the filter input for the Return-on-Investmnet Dashboard to permit a comma in the “Median Cost per Event Day” custom user input.
  • Adjusted filter display to remove “N/A” and more accurately display the hierarchy of filters applied.
  • Improved the functionality of the “Clear” button in the filter.
  • Adjusted the versatility of the filtering when using regional selections.
  • Removed question marks from the filtering menu.
  • Adjusted how campaign data interacts with survey data when multiple industry levels are present.
  • Fixed bug causing Respondent Counts and Event Day counts to be out of alignment under some filtering scenarios.

It was a busy time; we’re looking for our notes on all that was going on when we did our first update. We’ll update this space as soon as we get those notes organized.

You have no idea how excited we were. This was seven years in the making (no exaggeration). When we can organize it, we’d like to list the changes we made during our Beta testing.

Shout out to all the Agency partners and Brand Managers who provided feedback.

There were a ton of changes made during the pandemic. While the Events Industry was at a standstill, we were putting all of our energy into building the largest and most robust benchmarking database available. We did it and started to share it with others outside of PortMA in mid-February 2022.

This was our first in-house Alpha trial. The idea was to move the tools we had used for years to a user-friendly, secure online platform so our long-term clients could access the same industry benchmarks we used daily.

What Other Experiential Industry Professionals Say…

Why did you say The Experiential ROI Dashboard was the strongest of the five dashboards?

“It’s always the first question clients ask and sometimes the hardest to answer. This section gives an easy way to calculate, explains the numbers/calculation process, and provides helpful benchmarking (because that’s the second question clients ask).”

Who would find this Experiential ROI Measurement Toolkit the most useful in their day-to-day job?

“Account managers and business development (the people on the front lines of client questions and reporting)”

Anne Morgan
Chief Operating Officer
ITK Collective

Why did you say The Experiential ROI Dashboard was the strongest of the five dashboards?

“This has been the most significant pain point for us in figuring out how to project and measure ROI for our experiential events. Having this section built out with steps on what to measure is helpful and something you can adapt for different situations. We are trying to figure out how to measure and track against our existing work so having a streamlined and consistent way to do it with benchmarks for similar projects is beyond valuable.”

Who would find this Experiential ROI Measurement Toolkit the most useful in their day-to-day job?

“Those involved in the planning and development process of experiential events as well as those who make the decisions about elements and report on success.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How was this Experiential Marketing data collected?

All data in PortMA’s dashboard and reports were collected on-site by event staff via intercept interview or post-event through an email invitation to an online survey. Consumers were always interviewed only after their full engagement experience with the brand, so the data reflect the impact of that experience.

In addition, activation metadata (e.g., engagement counts, samples delivered, etc.) was collected by on-site staff after each day of activation.

Will I be able to measure the Experiential Marketing Return-on-Investment for my programs?

Absolutely. We’ve developed an 8-step learning path where a short video anchors a set of tutorials walking you through how to engage the ROI dashboards and build your in-house data collection, analysis, and reporting solution.

And when you need us, a seasoned Event Analyst is on call to assist with whatever questions you have. And when you need someone to jump on the team and get the job done, your dedicated Account Manager is on retainer to get it done for you.

Does my Agency have permission to use these methods with our Clients?

Yes. When you subscribe to the Experiential Marketing ROI Measurement Toolkit, you are also given a license to PortMA’s IP (Intellectual Property) to use for your commercial purposes for the length of your subscription. We only ask that you maintain the phrase “Powered by PortMA” in small font at the bottom of any resulting documents or publications.

Can you provide a demonstration of the tool before we decide to sign-up?

It would be our pleasure. Use the button below to find a convenient time for you and we can walk you through the platform and answer any questions you might have.
